Coheed and Cambria
Ten Speed (of God’s Blood and Burial)
from IV
The track opens with a 4 on the E-string (let it ring), then the verse bass line goes:
G:----------------------------------|
D:----------------------------------|
A:----------------------------------|
E:--44-4-4-4-4-6664-44-4-4-4-4-6624-|
Then for the chorus, the bass pretty much mimics the guitar riff
G:-----------------------------------|
D:------2---32---32------------------|
A:-----3-3-3----3--3—5-5-55-00-0-3---|
E:-1-1-------------------------------|
G:---------------------------------|
D:------2---32---32----------------|
A:-----3-3-3----3--3-5-5-55-0000-3-|
E:-1-1-----------------------------|
During the solo, the bass mimics the rhythm guitar and just takes the line from the chorus up a step:
G:---------------------------------------------------------------|
D:------4---54--54---------------------4---54--54----------------|
A:-----5-5-5---5--5-7-7-77-22-2-5-----5-5-5---5--5-7-7-77-2222-5-|
E:-3-3----------------------------3-3----------------------------|
Breakdown
G:--------------------------------------------------------------------|
D:--------------------------------------------------------------------|
A:--------------------------------------------------------------------|
E:-000-0-0-00-0000222-2-2-22-2222000-0-0-00-0000222-2-2-22-2222000-0-0|
(alternate between the 0 and 2 like this, but add some flavor to it)
Then in the “second solo,” the bass goes with the guitar again:
G:-----------------------------------------------------------------|
D:-----------------------------------------------------------------|
A:-------7810-10-8787-----78757-75---------2---3---3532-023-20-----|
E:-88-810------------8-55---------8753-33-3-3-3-3-3----3------3---1|
Then the chorus kicks back in at the A-5s and plays til the end.
This song is really fun (especially that second solo part), and the bass and drums
make it what it is so listen to the song to get the right rhythms in each section. If there
mistakes, I apologize but they should be easily corrected from what’s here. Enjoy.
