Killing Floor - The Jimi Hendrix Version (Originally by Howlin' Wolf)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Tabbed by Chris Hoolihan (hool@actrix.gen.nz, hoolih1c@wcc.govt.nz)
Note - This is my first attempt at transcribing this awesome song... I posted
messages on usenet requesting this song and when i received no replies
i decided to try to work it out. This version is in A minor (which I
think is the key Jimi played it in, if you want to play along with Jimi
then you'll have to downtune half a step to Eb).
I find this is a good type of song to jam with heaps of guitarists as
there are always too many guitarists so you can use 3 with this...
- one doing the lead riffs
- one doing the 12 bar blues
- one soloing
Alternate so the poor guy doing the 12 bar blues doesn't fall asleep.
I can't describe the timing but basically play it as fast as you can.
Jimi alternates between playing the lead riffs and the 12 bar blues.
12 bar blues in A minor which goes with the riffs - brackets show which riff
this section goes with: in this case the chords are A, D and E.
(Goes with riff 2)
The order goes like this:
Intro : Start off with some small solo then do riff 1
(no 12 bar blues behind this riff, it's the turn around riff)
:beginning
riff 2
riff 2
riff 3
riff 2
riff 4
goto beginning
then repeat this pattern until you're sick of hearing it.
