The Day I Tried to Live - SOUNDGARDEN
-------------------------------------
(off of the album Superunknown)
The intro is played by two guitars, one slightly distorted, the other
with a clean tone....the distorted guitar's riff is played a few more
times in different parts of the song. Just listen to it to get all
the parts right:
guitar 1 (a little distortion):
e |--12----10--9-12\7--6---|-6--6/8-8/10----------------| Repeat
B |------------------------|----------------------------| this 6 times
G |------------------------|----------------------------|
guitar 2 (clear tone):
comes in on second measure the first cycle of the riff guitar one is playing
e |------------------------|-7\12--12--12/7--7--7\12----| repeat 4
B |------------------------|----------------------------| times
G |------------------------|----------------------------|
on fourth time play this for second guitar:
e |-12/7--7--7\12--12-13/7-| e |--14/8-8\14-14\8-14/7-|
B |------------------------| then this B |----------------------|
G |------------------------| G |----------------------|
then the bass and drums come in for their little intro and during that
the distorted guitar plays something close to this slowly in rythym
with the bass:
D -12-12-12-12-12---12-12/11-11/10--10-10-10-10-10---10/9-9/8--8-8-8-8-8
then comes the main riff, and oh how nice it is:
all strums are DOWN-
e |-7-7-7-7-7--7-7/6-6/5--5-5-5-5-5--5-5/4-4/3-3-3-|
B |-7-7-7-7-7--7-7/6-6/5--5-5-5-5-5--5-5/4-4/3-3-3-|
G |-8-8-8-8-8--8-8/7-7/6--6-6-6-6-6--6-6/5-5/4-4-4-|
D |-9-9-9-9-9--9-9/8-8/7--7-7-7-7-7--7-7/6-6/5-5-5-|
A |-9-9-9-9-9--9-9/8-8/7--7-7-7-7-7--7-7/6-6/5-5-5-|
E |-7-7-7-7-7--7-7/6-6/5--5-5-5-5-5--5-5/4-4/3-3-3-|
I'm not sure but I think that right before the main riff is played
this chord is strummed once :
e 6
B 6
G 7
D 8
A 8
E 6
the main riff is repeated it I think 5 times and then goes back into
the intro riff the distorted guitar played and then back into the main
riff later and then....you get it.
oh, towards the end there's a little dink of a riff that sort of hangs
there until the end - I forgot to figure that out but it shouldn't
exactly be difficult.
that's about it.
disclaimer: I figured ths out on an acoustic guitar so keep that in
mind while you fix the mistakes....
