Cuts You Up --Peter Murphy, from the album "Deep"
Everyone who requested anything by Peter Murphy had this one on the list.
I really can't hear any guitar in the song, except a little strumming mixed
really low. When I play the song, I play chords based on the bass line or I
play the strings part.
The bass goes something like this (listen to the cd for the rhythm):
----------------------------------------|
----------------------------------------|
----------------------------------------|
----------------------------------------|
-3--3-3--3-5--5-5--5-7--7-7--7-7--7-7---|
----------------------------------------|
Then the same pattern is played descending for the chorus...
It sounds pretty good to play chords along with the bass like this:
I usually just use clean power chords....
C D
I find you in the morning
E
After dreams of distant signs
C D
You pour yourself over me
E
like the sun through the blinds
Then the chorus goes:
E D
You know the way It throws about
C
It takes you in and spits you out
etc..
This is how the song goes throughout. Now, I like to play that cool
strings part. This sounds right to me:
----------------------------------------|
----------------------------------------|
-0h2/4-7----9p7h9p7h9--4----0--2--0-----|
----------------------------------------|
----------------------------------------|
----------------------------------------|
----------------------------------------|
----------------------------12----10--8-|
-0h2/4-7----9p7h9p7h9----------12-------|
----------------------------------------|
----------------------------------------|
----------------------------------------|
----------------------------------------|
----------------------------------------|
-0h2/4-7----9p7h9p7h9--4----0--2--0-----|
----------------------------------------|
----------------------------------------|
----------------------------------------|
--------------------------------|
--------------------------------|
-0h2/4-7-------4--9--7--4--2--0-| "I find you in the morning...."
--------------------------------|
--------------------------------|
--------------------------------|
If anyone knows the treble-y sounding strummed guitar mixed really low, I'd
like to have it. If any of this is wrong, corrections are welcome....
